It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Anthony, best known as the longtime drummer for the Butler-based band “Minds I”. After 24 years with Minds I, Jason was forced into retirement in 2022 when an infection resulted in the amputation of his left leg. He died at his home in Butler on Saturday. Jason was 52.
The news of Jason Anthony’s passing was confirmed and first conveyed by his former band, Mind’s I, through a social media post that reads, “We are profoundly saddened at the tragic passing of our friend Jason Anthony. Jason was a creative, passionate drummer and collaborator with Mind’s I, as well as several other notable regional acts from the 1990s through the 2010s. His contributions to the regional music scene are vast, and his loss will be felt by many. We loved Jason like our brother and extend our deepest condolences to his parents, family, and friends during this painful time.“
